IWC was founded by Florentine Ariosto Jones, a Boston-born watchmaker, in 1868 in Switzerland. He utilized the help of Swiss watchmakers, along with modern technology and hydropower that was derived from the River Rhine to manufacture the highest possible quality watch movements.
